MEGADYNE BELTS

Timing Belts- MEGASYN SILVER3

MEGASYNC™ Silver3 offers a higher power rating of over 20% when compared to the former Silver and Silver2 belt range and a wealth of improved properties at the same price. With the RPC tooth profile, the new Silver3 gives full functional interchangeability with other deep profile systems. The existing RPP or Silver and Silver2 systems can be upgraded without replacing the pulleys. In addition, due to improved performance, the more compact dimension optimises space utilisation and cost for all new drive systems.

The third generation of RPC Silver is made with materials of the highest quality and strength. Employing innovative manufacturing processes and techniques, the homogeneous construction of all components and a higher cohesive bond impart superior torque capacity, thus positioning Silver3 at a high-performance level.

Features

Megadyne MEGASYNC™ Silver3 belts have been developed to give a more powerful alternative to MEGASYNC™ RPP belts. Competing against high-performance transmission systems, using chains and gears, that always have disadvantages in terms of weight, noise, lubrication and maintenance costs.

Due to the greater power they can transmit, MEGASYNC™ Silver3 can be used to improve and easily upgrade existing drives working with MEGASYNC™. Interchangeability is the key factor to a flexible approach when upgrading with MEGASYNC™ Silver.

Silver3 offers a wealth of improved properties and is distinguished by its increased power capacity. Silver3 is particularly recommended for efficient and compact drives which experience high starting torques and allow the design more flexibility due to the following advantages:

  1. Increase of power load capacity of over 20%, compared to the previous Silver2; consequently more compact and lightweight drives are possible under the same power rating.
  2. Break the equation “More Performance”=“More Cost”, as Silver3 retains the same selling price as the previous Silver2 generation, while offering a consistent improvement in performance.
  3. Allows the existing RPP and Silver2 systems to be upgraded without the necessity to replace the pulleys; thus extending the service life of existing drives at zero-cost. Silver3 belts are available in 5M, 8M and 14M pitches, with the same range of lengths as the previous Silver generation. Each type is available both in sleeves and single belts, maintaining the same basic dimensions and widths.
  4. MEGASYNC™ Silver3 belts have an RPC profile, designed to be interchangeable with existing deep grove profiles and run on pulleys according to ISO 13050.
  5. MEGASYNC™ Silver3 5M, 8M and 14M belts are antistatic according to ISO 9563.

Timing belts- MEGASYNC GOLD2

MEGASYNC™ Gold2 has been developed to provide a more powerful version of RPP and Silver belts. It is suitable for a very wide range of applications in power transmission. This type of belt combines the advantages of gears and roller chain drives, minimizing the drawbacks of both.Gold2 belts feature the RPC profile, designed also to be interchangeable with existing deep groove profiles and to run on pulleys according to ISO 13050. MEGASYNC™ Gold2 belts are also antistatic according to ISO 9563.

Features

Megadyne MEGASYNC™ Gold2 belts have been developed to give a more powerful alternative to RPP and Silver3 belts to compete against high-performance transmission systems using chains and gears, that always have a disadvantage in terms of weight, noise, lubrication and maintenance costs.

MEGASYNC™ Gold3 can be used to improve and easily upgrade already existing drives working with both MEGASYNC™ RPP and MEGASYNC™ Silver.

The design of Gold2 timing belts offers the possibility to keep using the same RPP pulleys.

MEGASYNC™ Gold2 14M belts have two nylon plies on the teeth to:
• Improve belt resistance to wearing
• Reduce friction and noise levels.

Because of these features, replacing an MEGASYNC™ RPP or Silver3 with an MEGASYNC™ Gold2 can:
• Reduce belt width thanks to the higher power rate; this allows also to reduce the required pulley width. They both lead to a significant transmission weight reduction;
• Reduce the pulley diameters thanks to the higher power rate; this leads to a lower belt linear speed and to the consequent noise reduction.

Modifications

Process enhancements, skilled personnel, a can-do attitude and ongoing capital equipment investments enable Megadyne to stay at the fore front of new design developments and solution delivery to customers across the spectrum of industries we serve. Let a Megadyne Technical Sales and Application Engineer create the right belt to deliver optimum performance for your application.

Fabricated Covers

In many cases, the chosen belt substrate and cover material do not lend themselves to a cured homogeneous bond. In these cases, depending on the base belt type we can fabricate or extrude a cover to assist in product handling.
Cover materials available offer enhanced performance in applications where: high or low friction is desired, non-marking of product conveyed is essential, heat resistance is required, compressibility is essential for fragile product handling, wear resistance is needed for abrasive material being conveyed, or products moved must be offloaded easily without sticking.
Fabricated covers can be further modified with holes, slots, ground mpressions, grooves, pockets and other designs to assist in enhancing product handling and movement. See our modification  for additional details.

Molded Covers

Megadyne offers a wide selection of covers for every customer’s individual needs. For our molded covers, we mold uncured rubbers onto base belts, autoclave and grind them to gauge, producing a seamless cover and ensuring
a uniform structure. This creates a belt without bumps, splices, seams or hard spots, drastically reduces delamination, increasing belt life and creating uniform wear surfaces.
In addition to many industry standard materials which can be molded, BCA has developed its proprietary DuraTaqTM cover, which offers a very high coefficient of friction and low wear resistance. It's the perfect choice for applications equiring superior wear performance in difficult abrasion settings, leading to extended life and greater machine uptime performance.
Molded covers can be further modified with holes, slots, ground impressions, grooves, pockets and other designs to assist in enhancing product handling and movement. See our modification page for additional details.

Coatings

Megadyne hasdevelopedstate-of-the-artprocessesfor applyingsilicone and neoprene to a wide range of belt
substrates; both stable and elastic. Coated belts are commonly used in product transport applications where environmental conditions such as temperature would have an adverse effect on fabricated covers. Additionally, the coating of certain material substrates allows for the finished product to move across low profile conveyors where designs such as knife edge pulley transports are common. FDA silicone materials allow for use in the transport of hygienic goods and medical related parts and components. Silicone is an excellent cover material where the use of glues and adhesives are present in product manufacture.
Neoprene rubber can be formulated to provide good chemical and wear resistance, anti-static features, and self-extinguishing (UL94V) non-flammable properties for use in precision conveying applications. Our Neoprene Rubber Coatings can be applied to various substrates. Coated belts can be further modified with holes to assist in vacuum draw applications.
